From Then to Now - Together

South Park Early Childhood programming began in 1991 when a group of concerned residents gathered to discuss the need for early childhood programming in the South Park area. From this initial meeting, the South Park Early Childhood Council was formed. Although the school district had already decided to initiate basic preschool classes, this was the foundation for today’s comprehensive South Park Early Childhood Services.
In 1995, the school district proposed building a new facility to include an entire system of early childhood services, including the Edith Teter Preschool. The bond issue went before the district for a vote and the community said “yes.” The facility was named the Family Resource Center and dedicated in 1996. Additional space was added in 2007 to meet the growing number of children and families. In 2012, South Park Early Childhood Services moved into renovated facilities adjoining the district campus.
Today, a large variety of early childhood services are offered to support area children and families. They include preschool classes, Colorado Preschool Program, special services & therapies, Parents as Teachers, parent education workshops, day care referral, parent/provider resource library, early childhood health & development screening, weekly infant/toddler playgroup, developmental toy library, monthly parenting newsletter and parent resource website.
We look forward to working with you and your child!
