What is Colorado Universal Preschool?
Universal Preschool (UPK) is an exciting new initiative that plans to allow all 4-year-olds to access at least 15 hours of state-funded, voluntary preschool beginning in the 2025-26 school year.

Who is eligible for preschool support?
All Colorado children who are 4 years old on or before October 1, 2025, are eligible for up to 15 hours of Colorado UPK in the upcoming school year. Families may qualify for more free hours based on a number of qualifying factors, per available funding.

Which programs are participating in UPK?
Colorado UPK will provide families with pre-k options that best fit the needs of your student and family.

How do I apply for my child to attend UPK?
Families may go to upk.colorado.gov to access the family application portal which allows families to express preferences for provider type, hours, and location.
